UW This Season: Tom Vincent was moved from the strong safety postition to weakside linebacker during 2003 spring drills. The shift in positions was made to help add depth to the linebacking corps, and with his physical style of play Vincent was a logical choice. He is listed second on the depth chart at weakside linebacker behind Guy Tuell. Vincent performed well during spring practices. A hard worker who should see more playing time in 2003.

2002: Vincent was the backup at the strong safety position last season. Played in all 12 games for the Pokes recording 24 total tackles, including two tackles for losses. He intercepted his first career pass against San Diego State. Vincent blocked a punt in the end zone against Colorado State that was recovered for a Cowboy touchdown by Leonard Jones to spark Wyoming to a 7-0 lead. He also had one fumble recovery against Utah. Earned his second letter award.

2001: Played on the Cowboy special teams appearing in all of Wyoming's 11 games. Saw time at safety in two games in a backup role. Earned his first letter award.

2000: Practiced with the Cowboys but couldn't play in games due to being a partial academic qualifier. High School: Vincent chose to stay home and play his college football at the University of Wyoming. A native of Riverton, Wyo., Vincent was a two-time All-State selection in Wyoming and was also named to the Casper Star-Tribune Super 25. He played in the Wyoming Shrine Bowl in the summer of 2000. Vincent was a starter in three consecutive state championship games for the Wolverines, and helped lead Riverton to a 28-2 record during his three-year career -- 8-2 as a sophomore, 10-0 as a junior and 10-0 as a senior. His senior season, he caught 20 passes for 420 yards and seven TDs, he also returned seven punts for 114 yards and one touchdown and had 10 kickoff returns for 282 yards and one TD. From his defensive-back position, he made 59 total tackles (24 solos and 35 assists), broke up four passes, recovered four fumbles and had one tackle for a loss. As a junior in 1998, Vincent caught 10 passes for 158 yards, and on defense he made 70 total tackles (38 solos and 32 assists), broke up two passes, recovered one fumble and had five tackles for losses. Coached in high school by current Wyoming director of football operations Don Julian. Vincent was also an outstanding basketball and track athlete. Current Cowboy wide receiver Ryan McGuffey was a teammate of Vincent's in high school. Also recruited by BYU, Colorado State, Montana, Utah and Utah State.

Personal: Born Jan. 3, 1981, he is the son of Gretchen and John Vincent. His father wrestled at Montana State. Vincent is majoring in communications.
