UW This Season: Evan Weatherspoon will be looked to for depth at the wide receiver position as a sophomore in 2007. He has had a full year of experience at the wide receiver position after switching from safety prior to his redshirt freshman season.

2006: Weatherspoon played in five games as a redshirt freshman in `06. He didn't catch any passes, but did contribute on special teams. Earned his first varsity letter. He was the player who went through the biggest position change in the spring of 2006, moving from free safety to wide receiver. With the Cowboys losing four senior wide receivers to graduation, the UW coaching staff was looking for younger players who could make an impact at that position. Weatherspoon was the perfect choice to move to the position as he was an outstanding receiver in high school.

2005: Redshirted. Weatherspoon joined the Cowboy Football program in January of 2005, and participated in spring drills with the Pokes. He was originally signed by the Cowboys in February of 2004 as a grayshirt. He didn't enroll at UW nor go on scholarship until January of 2005.

High School: Weatherspoon was an All-Area selection as a senior at Gahr High School in Cerritos, Calif. He also earned All-City honors three consecutive seasons, and was named his teams' MVP as a senior. He played both defensive back and wide receiver for the Gladiators, and was a team captain as a junior and senior. Weatherspoon was credited with 70 tackles and intercepted two passes his senior season. On offense, he caught 35 passes for 471 yards and four touchdowns. Also an outstanding track and field athlete, Weatherspoon was a sprinter for Gahr High. He has run a 4.5 second 40-yard dash. He was coached in high school by Greg Marshall. Weatherspoon was also recruited by Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State and San Jose State.

Personal: Born Feb. 20, 1986, he is the youngest of two sons of Linda and Wallace Weatherspoon. He is majoring in business administration.
