2006-07 (Senior): Franks enters his final semester with the Cowboys as the Pokes' best player, the school record holder for low round and as a senior leader. After an up and down fall season, Jeff will need to have a good spring in order to qualify for postseason play. With his athletic ability and low-scoring capability he is a threat to win any event, and he has the talent to be the first Cowboy since 2002 to play at the NCAA Regional Tournament. Franks had the best stroke average on the team this past fall, 73.80, and will be looked up to this spring by his teammates for consistently low rounds. He missed the Wolf Pack Classic with a hand injury, but played in the other five events. His best finish was 23rd at the Purple/Red Invitational and his low round of 69 came at the District VII Fall Preview. Jeff now has eight career top-25 finishes.

2005-06 (Junior): Franks' highlight of the season came at the BYU Cougar Classic where his second round score of 65 (-7) tied the low individual round in UW school history. His 54-hole total of 208 (-8) at the event tied for second best all-time at UW, and he placed 9th of 83 golfers, his season best finish. Jeff was the season stroke average leader for the Cowboys at 73.67, the sixth best average in school history. His other top-25 finishes were 11th at the Cardinal Intercollegiate and 18th at the NMSU Intercollegiate. He played all 11 season tournaments and twice had rounds of 67, in addition to his school record 65.

2004-05 (Sophomore): Jeff Franks opened his second collegiate season in grand fashion, winning the Air Force Falcon Invitational, the first tournament win by a Cowboy since Kurt Kowaluk in the fall of '02. Franks, playing as an individual, fired a 54-hole total of 209, four under par, to take medalist honors of 80 golfers. Jeff shot his low round of the year at the AFA event, an opening round 68. He played in all 11 events during the season, and had three top-25 finishes. Franks averaged 74.84 strokes, over one full stroke better than his freshman year.

2003-04 (Freshman): Franks played all 11 season tournaments for the Cowboys, while adjusting to the demands of collegiate golf, and completed the year with a 75.91 stroke average. The true freshman played consistently throughout the season, with his best finish at the Arizona/Steve Kerr Invitational, placing 22nd of 88 golfers. Franks best overall tournament was probably the Cowboy Classic, where he had his low round of the year, a 71 in round three. His 54-hole total of 216, six over par, also at the Cowboy Classic, was his season best.

High School: Franks was a four-sport letterwinner at Steamboat Springs High School. He lettered all four years in golf, three in baseball, two in football and one in hockey. In golf, Franks was a two-time All-Conference selection and a three-time team captain. He placed third in the state 4A golf championships as an individual, and his team captured one regional golf title during his career. In hockey, he was co-captain of his team and was an All-State selection in 2003. Coached in high school by Jason Deigert.

Personal: Born April 8, 1985, he is the son of Wendy and Hank Franks. He has an older sister, Meagan. His father is a golf pro in Steamboat Springs at Haymaker Golf Course. Franks is majoring in communications at UW and was an intern with the Athletics Media & Public Relations Office this past fall.
