2008-09 (Sophomore): May played in all five tournaments of the fall season, and has played in all 18 events of his college career. He continues to gain valuable course time at the collegiate level, which should benefit him as his career progresses. 2007-08 (Freshman): May did something as a freshman that not many golfers can claim, he finished runner-up at a college tournament. Mike shot rounds of 69 (-3) and 68 (-4) at the Purple & Red Invite to finish in second place out of 104 individuals. It was the highest finish by a Wyoming golfer since the 2005-06 season when Jeff Franks won the Air Force Invite. The round of 68 was Mike's best of the season, as well as tied for lowest on the Cowboy team. May played in all 13 tournaments of his freshman season and held a stroke average of 76.16. At the Hawaii tournament he shot 72, 71, 70 and helped the Cowboys record the third-best team round in school history, 278 (-10), and the third-best team event total at UW, 859 (-5). High School: Mike May lived in Big Piney, but played high school golf for class 4A Rock Springs and was named All-Conference for all four years. His junior and senior seasons, Mike was runner-up at the Wyoming State Championship, only one stroke off of the title in 2006 and two strokes back in 2005. Both years, May earned All-State accolades. He represented the state of Wyoming on the Junior America's Cup team in 2004 and 2005. A multi-sport athlete, he also earned high school letters in basketball (three) and football (one). Mike was an honor roll student. May chose Wyoming over Utah, Utah State and Northern Colorado. Personal: May was born in Roosevelt, Utah on Dec. 28, 1987. Mike is the son of Troy and Wendy May and has one older sister, Reannon. He is undecided on a college major. |
