2005-06 (Freshman): Canadian Corey Steger has worked his way into the Cowboy lineup as a freshman with solid, consistent play. He played in all five fall events for Wyoming and had one top 25 finish. Steger's low round of 70 came at the NMSU Intercollegiate, which was also his best finish, 14th of 80 individuals. High School: An accomplished junior Canadian golfer, Steger ranked fifth in the 2005 Future Links Junior Order of Merit, Canada's Official National Junior Boys Ranking System. He finished second at the 2004 British Columbia High School Golf Championships his senior year with rounds of 73 and 71. He carried a scoring average of 71.1 during his senior season, and was his team's MVP all five years of high school. Corey finished seventh of 162 golfers in qualifying rounds at the 2005 Canadian Amateur, held in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. He eventually bowed out in the round of 32. His tournament low score came at the 2004 Future Links Western Championship where he shot a three round total of 207(-9) to finish in second. He is a member of Seymour Golf and Country Club in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Other schools that recruited him were: UTEP, Houston, Sam Houston State and Minnesota.
