Fall 2011 (Sophomore): Stewart played in all five tournaments for the Cowboys and recorded three top-25 finishes while carrying the second-best stroke average on the team. At the Battle in the Tetons, he recorded his best finish of the season in a tie for seventh and shot a career-low round of 67 (-5). Stewart started the Battle in the Tetons with an even-par round of 72, before firing his career-best five-under 67 in the second round. He closed out the tournament with a five-over 77 finishing the tournament in a tie for seventh place with an even-par 216. At the Colorado Invitational, he recorded his second-consecutive top-25 finish firing rounds of 72 (E), 71 (-1) and 74 (+2), to finish the tournament in a tie for 22nd place with a score of 217 (+1). His third top-25 finish came at the New Mexico Tucker Intercollegiate where he placed in a tie for 18th. He recorded rounds of 75 (+3), 72 (E) and 75 (+3) giving him a final tally of 222 (+6). Throughout the season he recorded six rounds of par or better and carried the Cowboys second-best stroke average of 73.86. 2010-11 (Redshirt Freshman): Stewart redshirted the season for the Cowboys after transferring from Pacific University. He had an excellent summer season for UW, taking home the Wyoming State Amateur Championship with a three round total of 206 (-10). High School: Stewart played high school golf for Mike Witz at Jackson Hole High School where he was a three-year letterwinner. During his sophomore and junior seasons he was the Western 3A Conference Golf Champion. He was also an All-State and All-Conference selection his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. During his senior year of high school Stewart attended Saddlebrook Preparatory School and the Arnold Palmer Golf Academy where he earned hardest worker and leadership awards. He was also a member of the 3A State Champion Jackson Hole HS skiing team his junior year and named All-State the same year in skiing. Stewart also excelled in the classroom being named Honor Roll all four years of high school. Personal: Stewart was born on March 22, 1991 in Jackson Hole, Wyo. He is the son of Peter and Natalie and has an older sister Megan. He plans to major in international studies at UW. |
