Cowboy Golfers Finish 14th at the Ernest F. Lied Wolfpack Classic

LARAMIE, Wyo. - The University of Wyoming men's golf team completed competition at the Ernst F. Lied Wolfpack Classic in Reno, Nev. The Pokes finished in 14th place with a 20-over par final socre of 884. The Cowboys shot a nine-over par final round of 297. Wichita State leads the 18 team field with a two-round total of 564. Denver won the tournament team title with an 18-under par score of 846. UW's junior Matthew Brunk finished the tournament with a one-over par total of 217. Brunk, from Ft. Collins, Colo., fought back from shooting a first round four-over 76 to finish the tournament with a third round four-under performance of 68. "Matthew shot a great final round," said UW head golf coach Joe Jensen. "But we continue to play inconsistently. Everyone has played well at times this year, and that is encouraging but we need to bring it all together. I think our guys are getting some good experience playing at a great tournments like this one." Utah's Garrett Clegg took home the individual title with a 11-under performance of 205. He edged out Hawaii's Matthew Kodama by one stoke. The 27th Annual Ernest F. Lied Wolfpack Classic was played on the Wolf Run Golf Course in Reno, Nev. It plays to a 72 par and measures at 7,100 yards. The Cowboys will next be in action on Oct. 10 when they travel to Fresno, Calif. for the Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic. Wyoming Team Results Cl.
