Cowboys Place Tenth At Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic To Close Out Fall Season
Oct. 11, 2003
Fresno, Calif. - The University of Wyoming men's golf team closed the final round of the Fresno State Golf Classic Saturday by shooting a team score of 293 (+5) to end the tournament with an overall score of 869 (+5) to place tenth. The Pokes shot a first round 292 (+4) and a second round 284 (-4) on Friday. Colorado State won the team title with a total team score of 831 (-33). UW sophomore Eric Baily, from Crofton, Neb., led the way for the Cowboys. Baily shot a first round two-over par 74 and a four-under 68 second round on Friday. He then completed the tournament with a final round even par 72 to tie for 21st place with an overall score of 214 (-2). "We played pretty solid at this tournament," said UW head golf coach Joe Jensen. "We had a frustrating finish because we were one-under par as a team with only a few holes to go. However, overall I am pleased with the way we finished out the fall season. A lot of the teams we beat today have taken some top places at tournaments this fall, so that is very encouraging. We still need to play more consistently, and that is what we will work on for the spring."
The Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic marks the end of the
fall season for the Cowboy golf team. The Pokes will be back
in action March 19th, when the open the spring schedule at
the Arizona Steve Kerr Invite in Buckeye, Ariz.
