LARAMIE, Wyo. -

Cowboys Compete at Oregon Duck Invitational This Monday and Tuesday: Eugene, Ore., is the location of this week's competition for the Wyoming Cowboys. UW will compete in the 2001 University of Oregon Duck Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 26 and 27.

Monday's format will be 36 holes beginning at 8 a.m. Pacific time (9 a.m., Mountain time). Tuesday will see the final 18-hole round tee off at 8 a.m. Pacific, as well. The tournament is being played at the Eugene Country Club, which measures 6,847 yards and plays to a par of 72.

The tournament field will include 13 varsity teams from the western United States, as well as three junior varsity squads. Five teams will enter the tournament with national rankings. The teams competing, along with their national rankings are:

Washington is the defending champion. The Huskies edged host Oregon by one stroke a year ago -- 857 to 858. Wyoming placed seventh out of 15 teams at last year's Oregon Duck. The Cowboys shot a 54-hole total of 887.

Individually, Anthony Arvidson of Oregon State returns to defend his title from a year ago.

Wyoming's David Hearn finished fifth a year ago in the Duck Invitational. Hearn is still suffering from an injured wrist and may not play again this week. He had to withdraw from the Cowboys first spring tournament in Gulfport, Miss., on Feb. 12-13, and he didn't make the trip to the Pokes most recent tournament -- the Hawaii John Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 21-23.
