Prenzlow Adds Hart to Cowboy Golf Team
July 8, 1999 LARAMIE, Wyo. - University of Wyoming men's golf coach Roger Prenzlow announced today that Matt Hart of Littleton, Colo., will be joining the Cowboy golf team in the fall of 1999. Hart, who played at Mullen High School in Denver, was the 1998 Colorado Stroke-Play Champion. Hart also was a member of the state of Colorado's '98 Junior America's Cup Team, and was a qualifier for the 1998 United States Golf Association (USGA) Junior Championships. "Matt (Hart) will be a great addition to our program," said Prenzlow. "He will be joining a relatively young group of guys here at Wyoming -- a group that nearly qualified for the NCAA West Regional a year ago. I think Matt has an opportunity to contribute to our team next year as a true freshman. I look for him to make us a more competitive and consistent team. "Matt's selection as a member of the Junior America's Cup Team for Colorado showed that he was one of the top four junior players in the entire state of Colorado. Winning the Colorado Stroke-Play Championship was a great accomplishment for him, as there were several players in Colorado last year who went on to earn (NCAA) Division I scholarships." Hart was also recruited by Colorado State, Denver and Marquette.
Born Dec. 28, 1980, he is the son of Julie and Scott Hart. His dad, Scott,
is the golf pro at Wellshire Golf Club in Denver. Matt plans on majoring in
business.
