2009-10: Eric Jones returns to the UW team as a redshirt freshman after an up and down first year. He is in the mix at 157 pounds and has the talent to start at this deep weight. Part of the Washington connection, he is one of seven Cowboys from the Evergreen state. 2008-09: Jones used his redshirt year and had a 19-7 record while competing unattached. He had six wins by fall, two by technical fall and three major decisions. Jones placed third in three different events, most notably the Utah Valley Open. He had a tough transition to college life and was not on the mat much after mid-year. High School: Jones was a two-time Washington state champion for Auburn Riverside High School. He went undefeated as a senior and 36-1 as a junior., Eric won the Tri-State tournament and the Pacific Coast Tournament. Jones was a four-time regional champion and a three-time league champion. He was a five-time USA Wrestling All-American, competed at the Cadet Nationals and was third at the FILA Jr. Greco-Roman National Championships. He lettered all four years in wrestling. Personal: Eric was born in Seattle, Wash., on March 26, 1990. He is one of three children of Bob and Sue Jones. His father wrestled and played football at Western Washington. Jones is undeclared on a major while attending UW. |
