2008-09: Chase Smith will wrestle at 149 pounds and has a good shot at earning the top spot. He showed potential during his first season and hopes to bring that to fruition this year. Smith is one of six Cowboys that call Washington state home, and one of two from Enumclaw High School, the other being freshman Joey Pierotti. 2007-08: Smith was one of 10 Cowboys who redshirted in `07-08. He had a good first year and in open tournaments he posted a 17-9 record, with three pins and three major decisions. Chase placed second at the Utah Valley Open. Smith competed at 141 pounds and excited the UW coaching staff about his future with the team. High School: Smith was a Washington state champion, his team's captain and named Outstanding Varsity Wrestler his senior year at Enumclaw High School. He was named First Team All-League all four years of high school, as well as the league champion for those four years. He was a three-time regional champion. Smith was a two-time 40 win club member and a three-time Pacific Coast Champion. He finished his high school career with a 135-11 record, was a member of the 2005 Greco All-American Team and was an academic state champion in 2005. Personal: Born May 24, 1989 in Enumclaw, Wash.
