2008-09: As a two-time NCAA Tournament qualifier and one of eight upperclassmen on the roster, VomBaur will be looked to as a leader on the mat for the Cowboys during his junior season. He will start at 133 pounds, but could wrestle at 141 as well. Cory has been steady for UW the last two years and hopes to continue that trend this season. He is one of six `Pokes from Washington state.

2007-08: For the second straight year, VomBaur was an NCAA qualifier at 133 pounds. He finished second at the West Regional and was named Second Team All-WWC. Cory had an overall record of 20-17, was 6-6 in duals and scored four major decisions. He placed second at Kaufman Brand Open, fourth at the Cowboy Open and sixth at the Midlands Nationals. A good student, VomBaur was on the WWC Comissioner's Honor Roll for his academic efforts.

2006-07: VomBaur stepped up in a big way as a redshirt freshman for the Cowboys with a 17-15 record and becoming an NCAA Tournament qualifier at 133. He recorded one pin and was third on the team in overall victories and third in dual wins with nine. He took second place honors at the Western Regional Tournament.

2005-06: VomBaur used `05-06 as his redshirt year. He looked strong in his open wrestling matches in which he recorded 21 wins and only nine losses.

High School: VomBaur won the 2005 Washington state championship at 130 pounds his senior year and was a two-time runner-up as a freshman and a junior. As a freshman, he wrestled at 103 pounds and wrestled at 125 pounds as a junior. He posted an overall high school record of 132-13 while at Evergreen High School. His senior year he was selected as a team captain.

Personal: Born July 6, 1986 in Portland, Ore. He is the youngest of four children of William and Karen VomBaur. His brother is UW assistant coach Ben VomBaur. Cory is a history major at UW.
