2005-06... Wendland used his redshirt year for the Cowboys in order to move up a weight class. He had a 11-5 record in open wrestling matches and had three pins. He continued to improve throughout the year. 2004-05... Wendland went 17-9 with one pin and three major decisions. He was the 184 pound champion at the Cowboy Open. At one point during the season he enjoyed a ten match winning streak. 2003-2004... Wendland won the West Regional title at 184 pounds and made his first trip to the NCAA Championships. He would finish the season with a record of 17 wins and 15 losses along with one pin and three major decisions. He placed second at the Cowboy Open. 2002-2003... As a true freshman, he was the Cowboy's starter at 184 pounds all season. He finished the season with a 13-16 record, collecting one pin and three major decisions. He took third place at the Cowboy Open. High School... Wendland won back to back Montana State Titles his junior and senior seasons in the 189 pound weight class. During that span he compiled a record of 65-5. He was a two-time Montana freestyle champion, placed fourth at the Fila Cadet National in Chicago, Ill., earning All-America honors.
