University of Wyoming wrestlers picked up two wins on Thursday at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Mo. Junior Dusty Hoffschneider and sophomore Gary Dack both went 1-1 during Day One competition and will continue with their tournament hopes on Friday.

Dack fell to the #2 seed Ryan Chuella of Michigan in the opening round at 165 pounds, 11-0, but bounced back with a win in the back draw over North Carolina's Garrett Atkinson, 6-2. Dack will face Mike Patrovich of Hofstra on Friday.

Wyoming's heavyweight Hoffschneider also drew the #2 seed in his opening round, Cole Conrad of Minnesota. Conrad defeated Hoffschneider 12-4, but the UW junior won his consolation draw match against Illinois' Mike Behnke by fall at 3:45. Hoffschneider wrestles Dustin Fox of Northwestern on Friday.

Also competing at the national meet for the Cowboys was redshirt freshman Danny Clum at 157 pounds. Clum went 0-2 in Day One action, losing to the #3 seed Matt Gentry of Stanford, as well as Dave Miller from Rider.
