LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming wrestling head coach Steven Suder announced today the signing of a Wyoming native student athlete to a National Letter of Intent for the 2007-08 season.

Eric Coxbill, 165 pounds, from Wright, Wyo., will join the Cowboys for the upcoming season.

Eric Coxbill, 165 pounds, Wright, Wyo. (Northwest College, Powell, Wyo.)

Coxbill was a three-time state champion at Wright High School and finished with a record of 141-7. He was undefeated his junior and senior seasons, winning 94 straight matches. He was voted most outstanding wrestler twice at the state tournament and won the triple crown his senior year.

Recently at Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., Coxbill was a two-time national qualifier. As a freshman he was nationally ranked at 157 pounds and as a sophomore he was ranked fourth in the nation at 165 pounds. He finished his sophomore season with a 25-8 record.

Coxbill graduated from Northwest College with an associates degree in sociology and a 3.08 GPA. He plans to major in criminal justice at Wyoming.

"We see Eric probably having an immediate impact at 157 or 165 pounds," Suder said. "Coach Zeigler (head coach at Northwest) coaches his guys to go hard and never back down and that's why Eric wrestles the way he does. After an outstanding high school career in Wright, Wyo., we are happy that he is finally a Cowboy."
