UW This Season: One of three seniors on the squad...will compete for a starting spot and more playing time this season...will be looked upon for her leadership and more output on the offensive end. Junior (2007-08): Played in 29 of 31 games off the bench during the season while averaging 15.1 minutes per game...averaged 3.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game...shot 39-103 (.379) from the field and 25-37 (.676) from the free throw line...had 30 assists and nine steals on the season...recorded her first double-double of the year with a season high 22 points and a career high ten rebounds against San Diego State (3/12/08)...shot 8-12 (.667) from the floor and a perfect 5-5 (1.00) from the free throw line...played ten minutes and had eight points the Cowgirls home opener against Idaho State (11/9/07)...had five points and two assists against Colorado (12/5/07)...recorded seven rebounds, while scoring seven points against Texas Woman's University (12/15/07)...with 11 points against Westminster College (12/19/07), she recorded her first double-figure scoring game of the season...in a season high 26 minutes of play, she recorded a career high six assists along with six rebounds against Air Force (1/16/08)...had five rebounds in 17 minutes of play in the second exhibition game for the Cowgirls...came off the bench and recorded nine points, four rebounds and four assists in the exhibition game against Chadron State (11/2/07)...moved in to 15th place with 59 three-point field goals and 16th in attempts with 175...needs only 290 points to reach 1,000 for her career...earned ESPN the Magazine Second Team Academic All-District VII honors, while being awarded Academic All-MWC and MWC Scholar Athlete honors for the third time in her career. Sophomore (2006-07): Played in 36 games including seven starts, while averaging 24.2 minutes per game...averaged 9.4 points, which was fourth on the team, and 4.1 rebounds per contest, which was third on the team...shot 116-273 (.425) from the field, 29-73 (.397) from the three-point line and 79-110 (.718) from the free throw line...ranked ninth in field goal percentage, 13th in free throw percentage and 19th in scoring in overall league games...tied her career high with ten rebounds against UNLV (1/11/07)...finished with a career high 28 points and six rebounds while shooting 10-15 (.667) from the field and 6-6 (1.00) from beyond the arc in the win over Western State (12/9/06)...had 19 points and six rebounds, while shooting 7-11 (.636) from the field against Charlotte (11/24/06)...followed that up with 12 points against Nevada (11/25/06) and Idaho State (11/28/06)...recorded 14 points against Colorado (11/21/06)...had ten points and five rebounds against Northern Colorado (11/15/06)...came in off the bench and scored ten points and three rebounds against San Francisco (11/12/06)...started against Colorado Christian (11/10/06) in the second exhibition game of the season...had 13 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots in 20 minutes...made a start in the first exhibition game against Adams State (11/3/06)...finished with seven points and three rebounds in 13 minutes of play...averaged 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds, while dishing out two assists and three steals, which helped her earn MWC Player of the Week honors for Nov. 27, 2006...shot 68.2 percent from the field (15-for-22) and was 11-for-12 at the free-throw line (.917) for the week...reached double-figures in 18 of 36 games on the season...won the Barry Crater Sportsmanship Award at the Wyoming Shoot-Out...with ten points against Air Force (2/28/07), she surpassed 500 points for her career...an Academic All-MWC and Scholar-Athlete selection for the second straight year. Freshman (2005-06): After a solid freshman campaign, she was named Mountain West Conference Newcomer of the Year by the coaches...played in 30 games with 11 starts in her first year with the Cowgirls while averaging 27.8 minutes per game...played in her first regular season game as a Cowgirl against Sacramento State (11/19/05) and started in the first game of her career against UNLV (2/4/06)...averaged 8.6 points, which was fourth on the team, and 5.4 rebounds per game, which was third on the team...shot 99-246 (.402) from the field and 39-57 (.684) from the free throw line...recorded 40 assists and 24 steals on the year...ranked 18th in rebounds (5.4 rpg) and 29th in scoring (8.6 ppg) in the MWC...in MWC games, she was 18th in rebounding (4.9 rpg) and 30th in scoring (7.5 ppg)...tied her career high with ten rebounds along with 13 points against Oregon State (3/18/06)...finished with nine points and six rebounds in the Cowgirls win over BYU (2/18/06)...recorded her first double-double of her career with a season high 27 points and ten rebounds against Idaho State...was 7-13 (.538) from the field and 11-13 (.846) from the free throw line, which helped her earn MWC Co-Player of the Week honors for Jan. 2, 2006...her previous high was 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals against Denver (12/4/05)...recorded 12 points against Kansas State (11/28/05) while shooting 5-6 (.833) from the charity stripe...finished with eight points and three rebounds in 30 minutes of play against Sacramento State (11/28/05)...finished with ten points and five rebounds in the exhibition game against Adams State (11/3/05)...played 20 minutes off the bench, while shooting 4-10 from the field and had two steals...followed that up with ten points, eight rebounds and five steals in the second exhibition game against Metro State (11/11/05)...recorded double-figures in 11 games on the year...was the leading rebounder in 13 games along with scoring four times...earned MWC Academic All-Conference and Scholar Athlete honors for the first time in her career. High School: A three-time All-Conference and All-State selection at Cheyenne East High School...in 2005, she earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors, the Milward L. Simpson award, given to the top female athlete in the state of Wyoming, along with being named Honorable Mention All-America by Street & Smith Magazine...as a junior and senior, she was named the SWAC Player of the Year, while leading her team to a regional championship and the state runner-up spot...during her sophomore campaign, the team won the SWAC conference and regional championship...coached in high school by Jerry Schlabs...a four-year letterwinner in basketball, she was also a four-time letterwinner in volleyball...a three-time All-Conference selection, who earned All-State honors twice in the sport...also led her team to the Regional Tournament Championship and the State Championship two years in a row, while winning the SWAC conference championship three times...an excellent student, she was a member of the National Honor Society and was on the honor roll for three years...selected Wyoming over several schools. Personal: Full name Megan Marie McGuffey...born October 1, 1986 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming...the daughter of Martin and Janelle McGuffey...has two older brothers, Corte and Ryan...father, Martin, and brother, Corte, played football at the University of Northern Colorado, while brother, Ryan, was a letterwinner for the Cowboy football team...currently majoring in dietetics. |
