2006-07 (Senior): Morrison has really developed ownership in the Cowgirl team as a senior. She continues to struggle with injuries that have plagued her during her collegiate career and is currently working her way back from a broken toe suffered during the fall. Strong in the classroom, Kayla is working hard to contribute to the team on the golf course in her final season and continues to try and improve her swing. Morrison has three career top-25 finishes. She did not compete in any events this past fall. 2005-06 (Junior): In her third year with the team, Morrison played her way back from an injury the year before and competed in three of 11 events for the Cowgirls. Her low round was an 82 at the BYU Dixie Classic where she finished 78th of 101 college golfers. 2004-05 (Sophomore): Morrison had leg surgery prior to the season, which hampered her all year. Her low round was a 77 at the Colorado/Heather Farr Memorial, and she played in six of 12 competitions for Wyoming. She had a top-10 finish at the Islanders Spring Classic, where she placed ninth individually and helped push UW to a third place team finish. Named Academic All-MWC. 2003-04 (Freshman): Morrison wasted no time making her mark on the Wyoming women's golf program. She ranked second in stroke average on the Cowgirl team, averaging 80.31 strokes per round. Kayla played in all ten events, and recorded two top-25 finishes: a 17th-place showing at the Denver Pioneer Invitational and eighth-place at the Cal Poly Invite. Tied for the team-best low round of 71. Named Academic All-MWC. High School: Morrison earned All-Little Kanawha Conference honors in golf at St. Marys HS in St. Marys, W.Va., and was a three-year letterwinner in golf. Morrison was also an outstanding basketball player, captaining her high school basketball team. Academically, she was a member of the National Honor Society, was a national finalist for Future Business Leaders of American and was selected to attend Girls State. Coached in high school by John Armstrong. Personal: Born Aug. 20, 1985, to Ginnie and Mike Morrison. Morrison was also recruited by Marshall and Ohio University. She is studying nursing. |
