She averaged 81.12 strokes in eight rounds of action. Her top performance of the fall was a 160 (+16) in the weather-shortened Nevada Wolf Pack Classic. She shot a season-best 77 (+5) during the event. Smalley was UW's fifth scorer at the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate with a 243 (+27) to tie for 41st place.
2010-11 (Sophomore): Smalley competed in six tournaments for the Cowgirls, including four in the spring season. She played 18 rounds and averaged 80.1 strokes per round to finish in UW's top three players three times. Her top finish was 40th place at the CU/Heather Farr Memorial in the fall with a 233 (+13), while her while her low score was 232 (+16) at the MountainView Collegiate in the spring after shooting a career-low 73 (+1) during the first round. 2009-10 (Freshman): During the first semester as a collegiate athlete, Smalley was thrown right into the fire and performed well. She competed in three of five events for the Cowgirls and had her best round of the year in her first tournament and second round ever as a Cowgirl, as she shot a 76 (+4) at the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. Smalley has added much needed depth to a very talented Cowgirl squad and continued to do so in the spring. High School: During her golf career she became the only T.F Riggs Lady Governor to have won the Conference Championship and the first ever student-athlete to become the State AA Champion for her high school. Smalley also earned the South Dakota Golf Association Junior Female Golfer of the Year for 2008, along with winning the South Dakota Golf Association Junior Championship with her opening round 69 that broke the women's course record. Personal: Taylor was born July 2, in Pierre, S.D., to her parents Carey and Grant Smalley. She has one younger brother, Zachary. Taylor is majoring in physiology at UW. |
