2011-12 (Freshman): Samantha Stancato started her Wyoming career on a strong note during her first season with the Cowgirls. In 27 rounds of action, she averaged 79.7 strokes per round. In her very first event she finished as UW's second scorer with a 234 (+18) at the CSU Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic, and she also finished second on the team at the Fresno State Lexus Classic in the spring with a 232 (+16). Her top score of the season was a 157 (+13) at the weather-shortened Nevada Wolf Pack Classic to tie for 31st, while her top finish was a tie for 22nd at the Fresno State Lexus Classic in the spring with a 232 (+16). She also carded a 230 (+14) at the MountainView Collegiate in the spring, which included a career-low 73 (+1) in the first round.

High School: Stancato lettered all four years of her prep career under coach Jill Kirkham at Coronado High School. As a senior, Stancato finished third at the state tournament to earn all-state honors and carried a 75.8 scoring average during the season. She won the regional tournament her final two years and was named all-area four times. During the summer before her freshman year, Stancato qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship by finishing fifth at the sectional qualifying tournament in Denver.

As a junior, she finished 16th at the state tournament while sporting a 79.4 scoring average. She finished tied for first at an event Nov. 6-7 in Arizona on the Future Collegians World Tour, shooting a 148(+8) over two rounds. Stancato claimed 22nd and 27th at the state tournament as a sophomore and freshman, respectively. In the classroom, she was on the 3.75 GPA list for three years and was a member of the academic all-state team as a freshman. She was also involved in National Honor Society and student council.

Personal: Originally of Colorado Springs, Colo., Samantha was born to Perry and Lucinda Stancato on April 12, 1993. She has two sisters and one brother. Her grandfather Frank Stancato played football at the University of Denver. Samantha was also recruited by Colorado, Colorado State and Minnesota. She has not declared a major.
