The Wyoming Cowgirl golf team played 36 holes on Monday at the CU/Heather Farr Memorial in Broomfield, Colo., and is in 15th place of 20 teams.

The Cowgirls recorded rounds of 309 (+21) and 312 (+24), totaling 621 (+45).

"The team is disappointed with their scores today, but maybe they came out and put to much pressure on themselves," said Cowgirl head coach Josey Stender. "It's tough coming off of two record-breaking tournaments because we still have room for improvement and that showed today.

"There were some short game and execution issues today, but in the third round the keys will be to stay patient and play within yourself."

Leading their team, both UW senior Laura Mengelkamp and sophomore Sarah Fogerty are tied for 29th place in the field of 100 golfers. The two Cowgirls shot mirror rounds of 75 (+3) and 76 (+4) for 36-hole totals of 151 (+7).

The event-host Colorado Buffaloes and the Oklahoma Sooners are tied for the team lead, each with totals of 588 (+12). Idaho is two strokes back, 590.

CU's Dominique Pytlewski is atop the individual leaderboard at 141 (-3). Three players are tied at 143.

One final round of 18 holes will be played Tuesday morning at the Omni Interlocken Resort. Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m.
