Oct. 9, 2001
LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Wyoming Cowgirls shot a final round 329 on Tuesday to finish 11th out of 13 teams at the University of Colorado Heather Farr Memorial golf tournament. Wyoming's top individual was junior Kim Nissen, who tied for 42nd place in the field of 78 collegiate golfers.
Nissen fired a final round of 77, five-over par. She concluded the tournament with a 36-hole total of 15-over par 159. Wyoming posted a two-day total of 649.
"We were so close to having a really good tournament, but we can't seem to get four strong scores on the same day," said Wyoming women's golf coach Jill Johnson. "Kim (Nissen) had another great tournament. She has been really steady all fall. We haven't had anyone start off a fall season this strong in a couple of years.
"We are hoping that the complete tournament we are looking for is right around the corner. Hopefully, that tournament will be the Boise State tournament later this month."
Walailak Satarak of UC-Irvine won the individual title with a two-round total of 140, four-under par. Nebraska won the team title, with a team score of 592.
The tournament was played at the Omni Interlocken Golf Club in Broomfield, Colo. The course measured 6,085 yards and played to a par of 72.
Wyoming's final tournament of the 2001 fall season will be on Oct. 22-23 at the Boise State Fall Classic in Boise, Idaho. Wyoming Individual Results
