The University of Wyoming women's golf team retained their standing after two rounds in a 15-team field at the San Diego State University Lady Aztec Invitational, in Chula Vista, California, after round three was rained out. UW finished 15th, with 649 strokes.

After having no rain in the San Diego area since April, the elements came into play at the 2004 Lady Aztec Invite, canceling the third and final round Tuesday. The darkness-delayed second round was able to be completed Tuesday morning, as three golfers played their final hole.

Baylor came away with the team title, winning by 11 strokes with a 590 (+14), while host school and reigning champion San Diego State dropped from sixth to ninth with a 614 (+38). Fresno State's Laura Luethke, ranked 39th nationally, was the top individual with a two-round score of 140 (-4).

Wyoming senior Shala Hanson led UW and shot rounds of 78 and 80 to tie for 45th of 83 participants.

Each team played five golfers and counted the four best scores.

The two-day tournament was played at the Auld Course. The Auld Course plays to a par of 72 and measures 6,292 yards.
