Wyoming Cowgirls in Seventh Place at Cal Poly Women's Invitational

The University of Wyoming women's golf team is sitting in seventh place after one day of the Cal Poly Women's Invitational. Leading the tournament is Cal Poly as they shot a 26-over par 314 on the day. Kyle Safford shot a two-over par 74 on the day to sit atop the individual leaderboard. Leading the charge for the Cowgirls and seven strokes behind the leader is freshman Michelle Camaione. Camaione shot an 81 (+9) on the day, which puts her in a tie for 12th place. Sophomore Bailey Adcock and freshman Kayla Morrison are in a three way tie with Marie Harper from Idaho State for 23rd place. The two Cowgirls fired first round scores of 86 (+14) which puts them five strokes behind Camaione. Other UW golfers competing in the two day tournament is junior Shala Hanson (+17) and senior Ashley Cariveau (+20). As a team the Cowgirls had a first round score of 342 which was 54-over par. The Cal Poly Women's Invitational is hosted by Cal Poly and is played at the Black Lake Resort. The Black Lake Resort measures 6,056 yards and plays to a par-72. The Cowgirls will again tee off at 9:30 tommorow morning with a shotgun start.
