2008: As a defender, Burger helped the Cowgirls in seven shutout victories and a goal against average of 1.12, best in school history. She made appearances in 18 games, 11 of which she started. Burger also took two shots on the season. In the classroom, Burger was named Academic All-MWC for the second year in a row, and earned her second letter award. 2007: Burger made her presence felt for the Cowgirls by earning a starting job as a defender her freshman season. Burger played in 15 games, starting 12 of them. She helped the Cowgirls defense achieve a 1.26 goals against average, their lowest conference goal total in history. Burger also excelled in the classroom by being named to the Academic All-MWC Team. She earned her first letter award at UW. High School: Burger was a two-time Fiesta Region Defender of the Year and was a First Team All-Region selection her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Along with being a team captain her junior and senior seasons, she helped lead Gilbert High to a 46-0 record in their region during her four-year career. As a junior, she was selected to the Arizona All-State team, Dobson All-Tournament Team and was the defender of the year for Arizona Central. As a freshman, she was voted Rookie of the Year and was a Second Team All-Region selection. She also lettered in badminton as a junior. Burger excelled in the classroom and earned the Fabulous Freshman award, two super sophomore awards, was a Golden Scholar and was a member of the National Honor Society. Personal: She was born on Feb. 14, 1989 in Phoenix, Ariz. She is the daughter of Kirk and Alice Burger and has an older sister, Brea. Her major is Math/Science Education. |
