2005: Stangl is a three-time team captain as she was voted captain as a sophomore, junior and again as a senior. She struggled through injuries for most of her junior season but still managed to play in twelve games with starts in six of those. She helped lead the defense to the best goals against average in school history of 1.01. The defense also shutout their opponents seven times and held their opponents to just one goal on seven other occasions. She took 11 shots, seven of which were on goal. She excelled in the classroom and was named Academic All-Conference for the first time in her career. She earned her third letter award at Wyoming. 2004: Stangl started the first 15 games of the season before injuring her knee in the Cowgirls 1-0 loss to San Diego State and missing the remainder of the season. She helped lead the Cowgirl defense to a 1.07 goals against average, the best GAA in Wyoming history at the time. She took seven shots and earned her second letter award. 2003: Along with Lori Scheider and Mercy Adetoye, she became the first Cowgirl named First-Team All-MWC in UW Soccer History. She also became the first Cowgirl to be recognized by Soccer Buzz Magazine when she was named to the Central Region All-Freshman team. She started 18 games, scored three goals and had one assist. Offensively, her best game came in UW's first ever win over San Diego State when she scored the game winning goal and had an assist on the final UW goal. 2002: Redshirted due to injury. High School: She was a four-year starter and letterwinner in soccer at Dakota Ridge High School. She was a team captain and defensive MVP her junior and senior years while leading Dakota Ridge to a league championship. She was a Colorado First Team All-State selection her sophomore and senior seasons and played on the All-State invitational team her junior year. She was also a four-time All-Conference performer. She was a first team Jefferson County league selection in 2001 and 2002 and was nominated for Jeffco Player of the Year in 2001. She was a five time member of the Colorado Olympic Development team. She played club soccer for the Colorado Girls Soccer Academy which won eight state championships, made the finals of the Region IV championships five times and won the National Club Championship in 2002. She also excelled academically and was a member of the honor roll throughout her entire high school career. Personal: She was born April 15, 1985 in Englewood, Colorado. She is one of three children to William and Wendy Stangl. She was also recruited by Washington State, Iowa State, Louisiana State and Colorado. She received a BA in psychology in May of 2006. She is pursuing a masters degree in counselor Education. |
