The Cowgirls took their second loss of the season at the Comfort Inn Invitational in Harrisonburg, Va. Sunday morning to the Hofstra Pride 3-0. Wyoming falls to 1-2-0 on the year while Hofstra improved to 4-0-0. At the conclusion of the tournament, Wyoming junior Amanda Lathrop and sophomore Emily Layton both were selected to the All-Tournament Team.

"We knew going into this tournament we were going to see some great teams and they were going to give us good games," UW head coach Anne Moore said. "Both Hofstra and James Madison were solid teams and played at a high level."

Hofstra jumped out to an early 2-0 first half lead. Senior forward Brooke DeRosa got the Pride going early with a pair of goals in the first 22 minutes from inside the penalty area. Junior midfielder Edel Malone assisted on DeRosa's first tally at the 8:58 mark, while sophomore forward Jill Lipari assisted on the second goal at the 21:38 mark. Hofstra's third goal came at the 51:29 mark off of a header by Malone.

"Hofstra was a fast team and put a lot of pressure on our defense," Moore continued. "Playing two teams like this will help us when we get to our conference schedule."

Wyoming junior Laine Hubbard got a red card in the second half which resulted in the Cowgirls playing down a man for the remainder of the game. The Cowgirls finished the game with 11 shots and senior goalkeeper Ashley Sheppard made seven saves.
