Laramie, Wyo. -- The University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccer team lost its first conference game of the season to BYU 5-1, Friday night in Provo, Utah. With the loss the Cowgirls MWC record falls to 4-1 and their overall record to 9-7.

BYU jumped on the Cowgirls early as they scored three first half goals. The first came off the foot of Aleisha Rose at the 6:27 mark, the second from Jennifer Fielding at 8:02 and the third from Terra Bigelow at the 35:32 mark.

The Cowgirls scored their lone goal of the match at the 39:18 mark when Kristen Stangl scored on an assist from Angela O'Dell. The goal is Stangl's second of the season.

The Cougars added two second half goals at the 56:29 and 76:23 marks. Jamie Rendich and Lydia Ojuka each notched one goal apiece.

The Cougars outshot the Cowgirls 28-3 in the match while Cowgirl goalkeeper Lori Scheider made fives saves. BYU goalkeeper Ashley Smith earned the win recording two saves.

The Cowgirls will be able to rebound in a big way as they will take on the MWC leading Utah Utes Saturday afternoon at 1 pm. The 20th ranked Utes enter Saturday's match with a perfect 4-0 MWC record and an overall record of 13-2.
