LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccer team has been honored for their academic success by The National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the 2009 season.

This marks the second consecutive year the Cowgirls have been recognized by the NSCAA.

"We are very proud of the academic work of our women's soccer team," said UW head coach Danny Sanchez. "It is a tribute to their commitment and to the great work our Office of Academic Support does for all our student-athletes."

Wyoming was one of 363 teams at all collegiate levels that had at least a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Last season was the first time the UW soccer team has been honored for academic success by the NSCAA.

In addition, for the second consecutive year senior Emily Layton (Colorado Springs, Colo.) has been selected to the NSCAA Scholar All-West Region Honorable Mention Team.
