We're about a third way through the season and have so far come out with four wins, three ties, and two losses. Coming into the season as a senior I have seen this team grow for three years moving on it's fourth. If this was our record my freshman year we would be having a pretty good start at the season, but something that was acceptable three years ago is not acceptable now. When I tell people our record I feel as if I've (our team) has let these fans down. We only have four wins and I tell everyone that I honestly believe that we should have nine wins under our belt with no ties and no losses.

This is how far we have come as a team and we have reached a level where we are capable of competing with every team we come up against.

It's just a matter of finishing what we start.

Our past weekend was a frustrating one for the team. We started out playing Denver University and came out with a tie. When we were playing them we couldn't believe that we weren't winning two, three, or four to nothing. Teams that were thought to be "hard" teams in the past have now become teams that we should not be losing too. Not because we got lucky in the game or we were just having a really good game that day, but because we are the better team. At least we came out with the tie as opposed to the loss against Louisiana State. This again was a team that we totally dominated, but just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. Their scoring opportunity came off of one of our weaknesses. Corner kicks! The LSU girl headed the ball right into the goal. We most certainly have improved in this area, especially with our backs that do an awesome job at heading the ball out, but it still makes me somewhat nervous when the other team gets that opportunity.

We just recently played Northern Colorado and came out with the win, 1-0. We dominated the game and did a great job with possessing the ball, but it was becoming aggravating when it was half time and we still hadn't scored. It was even more frustrating when 90 minutes were up and we still hadn't scored. So of course we went into overtime, which has become a rather common thing for us (I think that if we go into overtime two more times it will be a record). There were about thirty-five seconds on the clock and we get a free kick right outside of the box. I don't think that they realized that the clock was still going so they were taking their time setting up. People were getting nervous on the bench and then coach yells to them that they only have ten seconds left. Sarah Skinner scored off a free kick with three seconds left in overtime. Talk about a heart attack moment.

The win was just what we needed, and hopefully this will be a trend that we will continue to generate, and I must say, practice is always more pleasant to return to after a win than after a loss.

We appreciate your support and hope to see you at as many games as possible. Conference is just around the corner and I think that some good games will be played. Thanks for everything and keep watching the Cowgirl soccer team battle it out.
