This Season: The only senior on the Cowgirl squad this season. She adds depth to the line-up and expect good things from her. Had a solid fall going 6-3 overall, which included a four match winning streak, in singles play. In doubles action, she went 4-6 with three different playing partners. Is currently in 14th place all-time with 29 career singles wins.

Junior (2007-08): In doubles play, she and partner Carolina Chaix went 5-3 overall including winning their last three matches in a row during the fall. She also had a nice outing in singles play going 5-4 overall. In the spring, she went 1-4 in singles action to finish with a 6-8 overall record for the year. Had a solid outing in doubles play as she went 12-14 overall with three different partners. She and Brittany DeFelice went 7-9 overall and 1-4 in MWC play.

Sophomore (2006-07): Nelson capped off the fall schedule with a 4-2 singles record, winning her first four matches in a row. Earned a victory in her opening match in the qualifying draw at the Central Regional Tournament, defeating sixth seeded Kirsten Stople (6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (8)) of Colorado State on Oct. 18, 2006. Completed the fall with a 2-1 doubles mark with partner Carolina Chaix. After starting off the spring 1-4, she ended up going 5-6 the remainder of the way for a 7-9 record in doubles play. Nelson finished with a 10-11 overall record and 2-4 in Mountain West Conference play at the number five and six positions.

Freshman (2005-06): Did not participate in the fall season due to an injury. Came on strong in the spring winning three of her first five matches, including her first ever Division I victory over Vera Vasileva of Montana State (1/27/06). Nelson finished with an overall record of 7-17 in singles action at the number three, four and five positions. Completed the year with a 4-11 mark in doubles play with two different partners. Earned her first letter award at UW.

High School: A two-time First Team All-Ohio and a Second Team All-Ohio selection while attending Triway High School in Shreve, Ohio. She was a conference and sectional champion for four years straight at the number one singles position, and placed in the Top eight in the state three times. Finished her career with an overall singles record of 128-11, and helped her team to a perfect 17-0 record as a junior. Nelson was also a four-time Team MVP and never lost a conference match during her high school career. She has been extremely involved as a junior competitor with the USTA since the age of eight, and was ranked as high as 75th in the USTA Girl's 18 singles. During that time, she was the champion of the Girl's 18 National Open Doubles, the Interscholastic-West Doubles, and won both the singles and doubles Midwest Open National Championships. She was coached by her father, Jim. An excellent student, she was involved in several school activities.

Personal: The daughter of Jim and Susie Nelson. Born Sept. 14, 1986 in Wooster, Ohio. She has one brother, Andrew. Majoring in journalism with a minor in marketing communication.
