Wyoming Cowgirl Tennis Opens Up With Win

Honolulu, Hawai'i (March 16, 2003) --In a rain shortened match, the Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team opened up with a 6-0 sweep of the Chaminade Silverswords, Sunday morning, in Honolulu. With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 7-3 on the season. Singles play was dominated by the Cowgirls led by junior Yuliani Santi in the No. 1 slot with her victory over Alohalani Castro, 6-0, 6-2. Patricia Chien opened up her weekend with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Kimi Chikazawa, while at the No. 3 spot Kati Gyulai defeated Kim Yamasaki in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Jen Hancock also closed out her match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kelly Yamasaki. The Cowgirls would close out play with Megan Williams defeating Danica Hood, 6-1, 6-2, and Gwen Moser earning a victory over Audry Brady, 6-1, 6-0. Doubles play couldn't be finished because of rain, which gave Wyoming the 6-0 victory.
