March 30, 2003
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The University of Wyoming women's tennis team was shut out by the 24th-ranked UNLV Lady Rebels Saturday at the Feritta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas. The loss is the seventh of the season for the Cowgirls and their first loss in Mountain West Conference play. The Cowgirls are now 7-7 overall and 0-1 in the MWC. UNLV started the day by taking all three doubles matches for one team point. In singles play to Cowgirl Patricia Chein fell to Gyorgyi Zsiros of UNLV 6-0, 6-3. The Lady Rebels took all six matches in straight sets as Tracie Chong defeated Yuliana Santi 6-1, 6-5, Agnieszka Abram defeated Kati Gyulai 6-3, 6-4, Amy Hadziosmanovic defeated Jennifer Hanncock 7-6, 7-5, Cindy Treber defeated Megan Williams 6-1, 6-0 and Jackie White defeated Gwen Moser 6-3, 6-2. "The girls really fought hard today," said UW head tennis coach Pam Wildt. "We competed really well. I am pleased by how much we have improved since last year, but UNLV was just little better today. If we keep competing like we did today good things are going to happen." The Cowgirls take on San Diego State Sunday, who was a 5-2 winner over Colorado State today.
