TULSA, Okla. -

The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team had one singles player and one doubles team take the courts at the Central Regional Tournament, on Thursday, in Tulsa Okla.

In main draw singles play, UW senior Corina Lazar opened up with a straight set win, 6-3, 7-6, against Erin Karions of Iowa State. She will play the third seed Imke Reimers of Nebraska in the next round.

In UW's only action on Wednesday, freshman Rebecca Berger fell to Geissy Torres of Colorado, 6-0, 6-1, in her qualifying match. She finished the fall with a singles record of 7-5 overall.

"I was very proud of the way Corina played today," said UW head coach Krissy Hall. "She plays against a tough player tomorrow but has a great opportunity to move forward in this tournament."

In the first day of doubles play, the Wyoming team of Michelle Brown and Carly Van Hollen lost by the score of 8-2 against Rebecca Row and Jie Zeng of Tulsa.
