UW - This Season A returning three-year starter for the Cowgirls this season...one of the best players at her position in the MWC...a First Team All-Mountain West Conference selection in 1999, she is expected to be the Cowgirls leading honors candidate again this year...look for her to continue the climb into several Top 10 career categories, which include blocks, kills and hitting percentage...the Cowgirls leader in blocks and hitting percentage the past three seasons...a player that brings the majority of experience to this year's team...is very quick for her size, and will cause a lot of problems for other teams.
Junior (1999) Played in all 30 matches and 105 games for the Cowgirls...led the team in kills (3.74 kpg), blocks (1.37 bpg) and hitting percentage, .360...finished the season ranked second in hitting percentage, third in blocks and sixth in kills in the conference...with 144 blocks on the season, she is second on the all-time career blocks list with 447...also ranks seventh on the all-time list in kills with 976 career kills...played in 20 matches this season in which she hit double-figures in kills...was the MVP of the Sooner Invitational...also named to the All-Tournament teams at the Wake Forest Deacon Invite and the Pittsburgh Tournament....earned Player of the Week honors for the weeks of Sept. 27 and Nov. 15...had a season and career high 30 kills against Evansville (9/25/99), which was also a school record in a four game match...earned First Team All-MWC honors, plus was an Academic All-MWC and Scholar-Athlete selection.
Sophomore (1998) Played in 29 of 30 matches as a sophomore...led the team in total blocks with 153, averaging 1.55 blocks per game, which ranks third on the UW single-season Top 10 list...finished the season ranked third in the overall matches (1.55 bpg) and second in conference matches (1.72 bpg)...was ranked 15th in the country in blocks after the season...led the team in hitting percentage at .303 for the second year in a row...averaged 3.20 kills per game, which was second on the team...had a season high 20 kills, 61 attempts and ten block assists against Houston (11/1/98)...was named the MVP of the Cowgirl Classic...a Second Team All-WAC selection in the Mountain Division...earned Academic All-WAC and WAC-Scholar Athlete honors.
Redshirt Freshman (1997) Appeared in 30 of 31 matches...led the team with 150 blocks, which ranks fifth on UW's single-season Top 10 list...was ranked nationally in blocks several times during the season...also led the team in hitting percentage at .263...finished fifth on the team with 266 kills (2.63 kpg)...had a season high 20 kills against Oregon State (9/13/97) and Utah (11/1/97)...earned All-Tournament honors at the Idaho State and Santa Clara Tournaments...an Academic All-WAC and WAC Scholar-Athlete selection.
Freshman (1996) Suffered a stress fracture in her foot soon after starting fall drills and redshirted...came to Wyoming as one of the tallest players in years...definitely a promising talent for the future.
High School The Denver Post Class 4A Player of the Year for 1995...led her Windsor High School team to the 4A State Championship as a senior...a gifted basketball player, she played on the state championship basketball team as a junior...she was also recruited by Texas Tech, Tulsa and Utah, among others...a National Honor Society member, as well.
Personal One of two children of Jean and Stan Friehauf...born March 26, 1978 in Ft. Collins, Colo...a secondary education major, with an emphasis in math education. |
