This Season: One of the Cowgirls top honors candidates this season...a three-year starter and letterwinner in the program...has been a solid contributor through out her career...will look to continue her climb up in the Cowgirl record book.

Junior (2006): Started in 26 of 28 matches and played in 102 games during the season...led the team with 3.79 kills per game and 4.23 points per game, while adding two digs and hitting .177 (387-176-1191) on the season...also added 47 total blocks and 18 service aces...in conference matches, she averaged 3.33 kills, 1.89 digs and a .143 (190-103-610) hitting percentage...ranked fourth in overall matches and eighth in league matches in kills...tied her season high with 14 digs against UNLV (11/2/06)...finished with 21 kills and a season high 14 digs and six total blocks against Utah (10/14/06)...had 12 kills and three service aces while hitting .360 (12-3-25) against Air Force (9/28/06)...recorded a season high 14 digs against Denver (9/19/06)...finished with a season high 28 kills and 62 attempts against Akron (9/9/06)...recorded 27 kills along with six digs in the victory over Southern Illinois (9/1/06)...followed that up with a season high .548 (18-1-31) hitting percentage against Birmingham Southern (9/1/06)...finished with 17 kills and 13 digs in the victory over UTPA (8/26/06)...was named the MVP of the UniWyo Cowgirl Classic and to the CenturyTel/Premier Classic All-Tournament Team...reached double-digits in kills 21 times on the year, digs six times and five double-doubles...with eight kills against Colorado State (10/26/07), she reached 1,000 kills for her career and has moved in to seventh place all-time in kills with 1,107...with four digs against Air Force (10/28/06) she reached 600 digs for her career and currently sits with 654.

Sophomore (2005): A First Team All-Mountain West Conference selection in 2005...started in 27 of 28 matches, while playing in 97 games during the season...led the team in kills with 3.94 per game and points per game with 4.48 and was third with 2.37 digs per game...hit .198 (382-152-1163) and had 29 service aces on the year...ranked third in kills in the MWC...in conference matches, she averaged 4.00 kills, which was third in the league, and 2.42 digs per game...recorded a career high 34 kills in the victory over UNLV (11/5/05), which eclipsed her previous mark of 27 against Utah Valley State (10/14/05) earlier in the season...finished with a career high 79 attempts and a season high 16 digs against Utah Valley State (10/14/05)...had 19 kills, 14 digs and a career high seven block assists against Northern Colorado (9/3/05)...recorded 17 kills and 12 digs against Montana State (8/26/05)...followed that up with 12 kills, ten digs and a .312 (12-2-32) hitting percentage vs. Gardner-Webb (8/27/05)...recorded double-digits in kills in 20 of 28 matches, 11 times in digs, along with ten double-doubles.

Freshman (2004): Named Co-Freshman Player of the Year in the MWC...made starts in all 27 matches along with playing in 101 games...started in her first career match against Idaho State (9/2/04)...averaged a team leading 3.35 kills, which ranked fifth in the MWC, and 2.18 digs...hit .235 (338-126-901) on the year...also had 46 total blocks and 16 service aces during the year...in MWC matches, she ranked third in kills, 12th in digs and 14th in hitting percentage...tied her season high with 21 kills and hit .567 (21-4-30) in the victory over San Diego State (10/30/04)...in the match against UNLV (10/3/04) finished with a career high 19 digs...recorded a season high 21 kills and had seven digs against Idaho State (9/2/04)...was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Cowgirl Classic...recorded double-figures in kills 17 times, nine times in digs, along with seven double-doubles during the season.

High School: A First Team All-Marmonte League selection in 2003 at Westlake High School...as a senior, she was also named Team Captain, Most Dedicated and to the All-Tournament Team...during her junior year, Smith was named First Team All-CIF and the Marmonte League Player of the Year...also helped her team to a 22-4 overall record and a spot among the Top 16 in the CIF Division II State Championship in that same year...a three-year letterwinner in volleyball, she was coached in high school by Doug Magorien...an excellent student, she was a member of the honor roll throughout high school...played club for the Santa Monica Beach Club Team which was coached by Nabil Mardini.

Personal: Full name is Rachel Nicole Smith...born August 5, 1986 in Thousand Oaks, California...the daughter of Ken and Sonya Smith...has an older sister, Christine and a younger brother, Michael...majoring in elementary education.
