UW This Season: One of six returning starters to the Cowgirl squad this season...a powerful and explosive athlete, she has transitioned into a nice six rotation player.

Junior (2009): Saw action in 31 matches along with 20 starts and 108 sets...averaged 2.62 kills, which was second on the team, and 1.30 digs per set...had 39 total blocks (0.36 bps) and 14 service aces (0.13 saps)...in league matches, she averaged 2.86 kills and 1.59 digs...recorded her first double-double of the season with 19 kills and a career high 23 digs and three service aces against San Diego State (11/5/09)...tied her career high 20 kills, along with six digs against Utah (10/15/09)...finished with 16 kills and five digs against Montana State (9/4/09)...followed that up with 14 kills against North Dakota (9/4/09) and Fresno State (9/5/09)...tied her career high with four block assists while adding six kills against Rutgers (8/28/09)...recorded double-figures in kills 13 times and led the team eight times in that category...averaged 3.38 kills and one dig which helped her earn All-Tournament Team honors at the UniWyo Cowgirl Invite...named Academic All-MWC for the third time in her career.

Sophomore (2008): Played in 24 matches with 18 starts and 89 sets on the season...averaged 2.90 kills, which was second on the team, and .82 digs per set...in league matches, she averaged 3.07 kills and one dig per set, while hitting .197 (166-75-461)...in MWC matches, she ranked sixth in kills and eighth in points, while being ranked ninth in kills in overall matches...tied her career high with 20 kills and three service aces against UNLV (11/13/08)...had 15 kills, seven digs and hit .278 (15-5-36) against Air Force (10/4/08)...recorded a career high 20 kills along with a .366 (20-5-41) hitting percentage against UAB (9/12/08)...finished with 14 kills, eight digs and two blocks against Portland State (8/30/08)...followed that up with 14 kills and two blocks against College of Charleston (8/30/08)...recorded double-figures in kills 12 times during the season...led the team eight times in kills...earned Academic All-Conference honors for the second year in a row.

Freshman (2007): Played in 26 matches with 22 starts and 90 sets in her first season...played in her first match of her Cowgirl career against Utah Valley (8/24/07), while her first career start came against UC Irvine (9/1/07)...averaged 2.44 kills, which was third on the team, and 1.54 digs per set, which was sixth on the team...also recorded 25 total blocks and 11 service aces...in MWC matches, she averaged 2.53 kills and 1.75 digs...recorded her first double-double of her career with 14 kills and ten digs, while hitting a career high .524 (14-3-21) against Air Force (9/11/07)...against Kansas (9/7/07), she finished with a season high 15 digs...recorded a season high 16 kills against Portland (8/31/07)...finished with a career high four total blocks against UC Irvine (9/1/07)...had 12 kills and two total blocks against Weber State (8/25/07)...reached double-figures in kills in nine matches and digs four times, along with recording two double-doubles...an Academic All-MWC and Scholar Athlete selection for the first time in her career.

High School: A three-time letterwinner in volleyball and a team captain as a senior while attending Tesoro High School in Las Flores, Calif...as a senior, her team finished 8-2 overall for a second place finish in league play, while making it in to the second round of the CIF tournament...during her career, she earned First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention All-South Coast League honors...as a sophomore and junior, she helped her team to third place finishes in conference play with 5-5 and 6-4 records respectively, while making it in to the second round of the CIF Tournament...coached in high school by Rick Polk...played club volleyball with the Laguna Beach Volleyball club since the sixth grade...an excellent student, she was on the honor roll through out high school along with participating in several scholastic activities.

Personal: Full name is Lauren Taylor Whitney...born July 15, 1989 in Corona Del Mar, Calif...the daughter of David and Terra Whitney...has three siblings, Kersti, Dana, and David...is majoring in secondary math education...her sister Kersti currently plays volleyball for Boise State.
