Lauren Whitney Class: Sophomore Hometown: Coto de Caza, Calif. High School: Tesoro Height: 5-11 Position: Outside Hitter

UW This Season: A returning starter from a year ago...gained valuable expereince in her first season...will continue to improve with more match play.

Freshman (2007): Played in 26 matches with 22 starts and 90 games in her first season...played in her first match of her Cowgirl career against Utah Valley (8/24/07), while her first career start came against UC Irvine (9/1/07)...averaged 2.44 kills, which was third on the team, and 1.54 digs per game, which was sixth on the team...in MWC matches, she averaged 2.53 kills and 1.75 digs...recorded her first double-double of her career with 14 kills and ten digs, while hitting a career high .524 (14-3-21) against Air Force (9/11/07)...against Kansas (9/7/07), she finished with a career high 15 digs...recorded a career high 16 kills against Portland (8/31/07)...finished with a career high four total blocks against UC Irvine (9/1/07)...had 12 kills and two total blocks against Weber State (8/25/07)...reached double-figures in kills in nine matches and digs four times, along with recording two double-doubles...an Academic All-MWC selection for the first time in her career.

High School: A three-time letterwinner in volleyball and a team captain as a senior while attending Tesoro High School in Las Flores, Calif...as a senior, her team finished 8-2 overall for a second place finish in league play, while making it in to the second round of the CIF tournament...during her career, she earned First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention All-South Coast League honors...as a sophomore and junior, she helped her team to third place finishes in conference play with 5-5 and 6-4 records respectively, while making it in to the second round of the CIF Tournament...coached in high school by Rick Polk...played club volleyball with the Laguna Beach Volleyball club since the sixth grade...an excellent student, she was on the honor roll through out high school along with participating in several scholastic activities.

Personal: Full name is Lauren Taylor Whitney...born July 15, 1989 in Corona Del Mar, Calif...the daughter of David and Terra Whitney...has three siblings, Kersti, Dana, and David...is majoring in secondary math education.
