Cowgirl Volleyball Program Concludes Recruiting Class
May 23, 2000 LARAMIE, Wyo. -
University of Wyoming head volleyball coach Susan Judge announced the remainder of her 2000 recruiting class with the signing of two student-athletes to national letters of intent to attend the University of Wyoming in the fall. Here are the signees:
Katie Jarman, 5-9, OH/DS, Provo, Utah: A two-year letterwinner at Provo High School in Provo, Utah. As the team captain for two years, she helped lead her team to the regional and 4A state championship, and a 19-0 undefeated season. Jarman also was an All-Region and All-State selection as a senior. She also earned letters in basketball and track. She was coached in high school by Wendy Bills. An excellent student, she is a member of the National Honor Society. Katie is the daughter Mark and Sylvia Jarman. She chose Wyoming over several schools. "Katie is a player who could have an immediate impact on our program," Judge said. "She is more of a finesse hitter, and offensively will rely on making smart shots. I'm most excited about her ability to pass and play defense. Defense is an area that we need more depth, and she can provide that stability for us. She is an outgoing player, and will add a spark to the personality of the team. Along with being a great addition to our program, we're just excited that she's coming to the University of Wyoming."
Michele Rauter, 5-10, OH, Vancouver, British Columbia: A five-year letterwinner in volleyball at Argyle Secondary in North Vancouver, B.C. Rauter earned All-Conference and All-Regional honors twice. In 1998, she helped lead her team to a conference championships and a fifth place finish in the region. As a member of Team B.C., she won the Western Elite Championship and a Gold Medal, and was the MVP of the tournament. An excellent athlete, Rauter also earned several letters in soccer. Her team won a Conference, Regional and Provincial Championships while she was in high school. She was coached in high school by Scott Graham. Michele is the daughter of Susan Rauter. She chose Wyoming over several schools. "Michele is a power hitter, and should really compliment our core of
outside hitters," said Judge. "She is also a very solid player in ball
control and defense, and adds great depth to that position. I'm
confident that she will be on the court and contributing, regardless of
position. She has a mean jump serve and back row attack, and that's an
area we've wanted to develop. I'm definitely excited about the new
dimensions she'll bring to our program."
