LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming volleyball team will have only one match this week as they travel to Denver, Colo. to take on the Denver Pioneers, on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7:00 p.m.

Wyoming enters the week with a 7-4 (.636) record and 1-1 in conference play after earning a split against New Mexico and TCU over the weekend. The Cowgirls are currently led by junior outside hitter Rachel Smith, who is averaging 4.27 kills, which is second in the MWC, and 1.78 digs per game. She is followed closely by freshman Annie Meyers who is averaging 3.86 kills and 3.12 digs on the year. As a team, they are averaging 14.60 kills, 16.19 digs and a .223 (613-233-1703) hitting percentage.

Denver comes in to the week 6-4 overall. The Pioneers are led by Lisa Hunter who is averaging 4.81 kills and 3.08 digs per game. They return four starters and nine letterwinners to a squad that went 17-11 overall and 8-4 in the Sun Belt Conference a year ago. This is the sixth meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads 3-2. The last time the two teams met was September 10, 2003 as the Pioneers defeated the Cowgirls 3-1 in Denver. Denver is coached by Beth Kuwata who is in her 11th season with DU and her 13th as a head coach.
